The Chair periodically organises the Universitat de València DACSA Chair Awards. This is a competition in which Universitat de València students can showcase their business viability plans and awards are given to those plans with the highest probability of turning into successful future businesses.

The 31 January 2023 resolution of the Office of the Principal of the Universitat de València establishes the regulatory bases for the 10th edition of the Awards of the Chair for Excellence and Entrepreneurship Development: from Student to Entrepreneur, DACSA Group -- Universitat de València, for the best business viability plans that are likely to crystallise into future businesses. The Office of the Vice-Principal for Innovation and Transfer at the Universitat de València, making use of the powers conferred by the Resolution of 20 May 2022, of the Office of the Principal of the Universitat de València (DOGV of 30 May 2022), approving the delegation of certain powers to the Vice-Principals, the General Secretary, the Manager and other bodies of the university,

RESOLVES

  1. To call for and approve the regulatory bases for the 10th edition of the Awards of the Chair for Excellence and Entrepreneurship Development: from Student to Entrepreneur DACSA GROUP - Universitat de València for the best business viability plans that are likely to crystallise into future businesses for the 2022-2023 academic year.
  2. That this call will be subject to the rules and regulations published in Annex I.
  3. That the prizes will be financed by the 2023 budget of the Chair for Excellence and Entrepreneurship Development: from Student to Entrepreneur, DACSA Group - Universitat de València, chapter VII, specific 20210327, in the amount of €2,500.

An appeal for reconsideration may be lodged against this resolution, which exhausts administrative channels, with the same body that issued it, within one month of the day following its publication, or an appeal for judicial review may be lodged directly with the bodies of the contentious-administrative jurisdiction of the Valencian Community, within two months of the day following its publication.

Goals and target audience

The Universitat de València, through the Chair for Excellence and Entrepreneurship Development: from Student to Entrepreneur, DACSA Group - Universitat de València, opens the call for the 10th edition of the Business Viability Plan Awards to young students or graduates of official studies form any of the faculties and schools on the three Universitat de València campuses (Blasco lbáñez, Burjassot y Tarronges). The goal of these awards is to encourage entrepreneurial activities at the Universitat de València.

Students or graduates of official undergraduate or postgraduate degrees of the Universitat de València are eligible to participate, alone or in groups, by presenting a business viability plan.

In the case of a group with participants who are not connected to the Universitat de València, the business plan will be accepted so long as at least one of the group members is affiliated with the Universitat de València. These plans must be promoted by students and university graduates linked to the Universitat de València through any of its official degrees. Additionally, the plans must be original projects that have not already been presented in previous editions of the awards. Participation implies acceptance of the rules and regulations. Participants must not be in any of the circumstances established in article 13.2 of Law 38/2003 of 17 November 2003 on general subsidies.

Submission of applications and documentation

Applications must be submitted using the form included in Annex II through the Online Office of the Universitat de València, by using the electronic registration procedure, with prior registration at the headquarters or with a digital electronic certificate. Applications must be addressed to Institutional and Business Chairs (Help guide).

Along with the application, the following documentation must be submitted:

  1.  Application for participation (Annex II)
  2.  Executive summary (max. 10 pages)
  3.  Business plan, which must contain an analysis of all areas of the company (max. 150 pages).
  4.  Necessary annexes.

The business plan submitted with the application must be the same plan that is presented, if selected, to the expert panel. The submission period opens the day after the publication of the extract of this call for applications in the Diari Oficial de la Generalitat Valenciana (Valencian Government) and ends on 21 April 2023.

The award procedure is conducted on a competitive basis and is managed by the Transfer and Innovation Service of the Universitat de València. The awarding body is the Office of the Vice-Principal for Innovation and Transfer of the Universitat de València.

The results with the scores obtained by each of the projects, as well as the proposal of the 4 finalist projects, will be made public before 27 April 2023. The day following this publication, a 10 day period will commence in which participants can present any possible claims. All claims must be presented to the mixed assessment committee and registered through the Electronic Registry of the Universitat de València. The 4 finalist projects, and their ranking, will not be known until the Chair’s closing ceremony.

The public presentation of the 4 finalist projects will take place on 10 May 2023. The date of this event will be made public on the Chair’s website. At this event, the assessment committee will propose the ranking of the projects to the Office of the Vice-Principal for Innovation and Transfer and will communicate the final decision regarding the awards. The event will conclude with the presentation of the corresponding awards to the winners, in the presence of public and civil authorities of the Valencian Community, the media
and interested personnel.
