The Study Group on European Private and Digital Law is currently recognised as such by the OTRI (Office of Research Results Transfer), within the document on R&D capacities and knowledge transfer of the Universitat de València. With its 53 OTRI projects, it is one of the most active groups in this field. The following OTRI agreements and contracts are currently in force:

  • Collaboration agreement with the CGPJ (General Council of the Judiciary of Spain), for the modernisation of Justice.
  • Agreement with the Spanish National Association of Property, Commercial and Personal Property Registrars, for the reform of Registry Law and new technologies.
  • Agreement with the Innovation Chair of the University of Cantabria, for the development of electronic mediation.
  • Agreement with the Freie Univesität of Berlin, for the study of Private Law.

The management of the group has been handed over to Javier Plaza Penadés, Full University Professor of Civil Law for over 30 years and current UV Data Protection Officer, who is part of the Group of Experts in Artificial Intelligence, established by the Spanish Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism. He is also the director of the the UV-Jorge Muñoz Chair for Transparency, Second Chance and Bankruptcy Law.

The group participates in this international project, which belongs to the "CoPECL Network of Excellence", a network made up of several European universities, institutions and organisations. Among its objectives is the drafting of a proposal for a "Common Frame of Reference" for European contract law in accordance with the guidelines set out in the Commission's Action Plan (COM [2003] 68). This group is led by researchers from the University of Turin and Berkeley (California). It involves around a hundred European researchers in three research areas (Tort, Property, Contract).
