The L’Oréal UNESCO "For Women in Science” national awards are granted each year to 5 young women researchers. Their aim is to foster the recognition of women in different scientific areas.
The Fondation L’Oréal‑UNESCO has awarded Reyes Benlloch, researcher at the Centre for Research in Agricultural Genomics (CRAG) and current principal investigator of UV’s SignalFlow group (Signals controlling flowering in plants), with the L'Oréal‑UNESCO “For Women in Science” Research Award. The title of the awarded project is “Study of the structure and post‑translational regulation of photoreceptors in Arabidopsis.”
The award was granted in November 2013, with Margarita Salas, ad honorem researcher at the Severo Ochoa Molecular Biology Centre (CSIC‑UAM), presiding over the jury. The other four researchers that have received the award are Marta Alonso (Applied Medical Research Centre, CIMA), Begoña Sot (IMDEA Nanociencia Foundation), María Ángeles Tormo (Valencian Institute for Agricultural Research, IVIA‑CITA) and Laura Herrero (Institute of Biomedicine of the University of Barcelona, IBUB).
