  •     10:15-11:15 – presentation of FORTHEM Research Units dedicated to AI

  •     11:30-12:00 – presentation of AI-related BA and MA programs
  •     12:00-13:00 – presentation of projects, innovations, and non-academic partners

Confirmed Speakers:

  •     Prof. Jean-François Caron (University of Opole) – political scientist, author of the book Contemporary Technologies and the Morality of Warfare (Routledge, 2020). His new book about Robots and the 4th Industrial Revolution will be published in 2025.
  •     Prof. Adrian Florea (Lucian Blaga University in Sibiu) - computer scientist, team member of the OMiLAB node of ULBS, and coordinator of the Advanced Computing Systems master program. Since 2019 Professor Florea has been leading the HPI Knowledge Transfer Institute at ULBS and organized in 2024 the fifth edition of the Sibiu Innovation Days event - https://events.ulbsibiu.ro/innovationdays/. He has worked over 25 years in interdisciplinary national and international research projects dealing with issues such as optimization problems in different engineering domains, embedded systems with applicability in Smart City and Smart Agriculture, human capital evaluation, developing collaborative platforms for knowledge transfer between academia and industry, creating digital tools for supporting communities of practice, mobile computing.
  •     Dr. Mattia Cerrato (Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz): team member of project TOPML – Trading off Non-Functional Properties of Machine Learning Project. His research is focused on deep learning, interpretability, and fairness.
  •     Prof. Daniel Morariu (Lucian Blaga University in Sibiu - ULBS): Computer scientist and team member of the OMiLAB. His research is focused on machine learning and text mining.
  •     Dr. Francesco Prinzi (University of Palermo): Assistant Professor with the Department of Biomedicine, Neuroscience, and Advanced Diagnostics. His research is focused on developing diagnostic and predictive models through Machine Learning, Explainable Artificial Intelligence, and Medical Imaging Analysis. Currently Involved in the project ‘5G for A Smart Sicilian Academic Campus’ developed with Vodafone Italia S.p.A.
  •     Prof. Vagan Terziyan (University of Jyväskylä): Professor of Applied Mathematics with 40+ years of academic experience in Artificial Intelligence and related domains. Member of Collective Intelligence Research Group.
  •     Gabriele Troisi (Bandit Startup, Palermo) Engineer and Entrepreneur with expertise in artificial intelligence and innovation. Founder of Bandit Startup.
  •     Prof. Salvatore Vitabile (University of Palermo): Director of the Medical Imaging Lab, Full Professor at the Department of Biomedicine, Neuroscience and Advanced Diagnostics.
  •     Dr. Yolanda Vives Gilabert (University of València): Electronic engineer, coordinator of the Data Science study program. Her research focuses on classical and quantum machine learning, and medical image and signal processing.
  •     Dr. Arne Wiklund (University of Agder): team member of the Centre for Artificial Intelligence Research (CAIR); Head of the Master of Artificial Intelligence study program.
