Pedro Almodóvar's debut feature, this transgressive and delirious comedy portrays the underground scene and the modernity of the Movida Madrileña through three very different women: Pepi, a modern young woman who grows marijuana on her terrace; Luci, a submissive and masochistic housewife; and Bom, a punk singer with sadistic tendencies. It all begins when Pepi is raped by a police officer who catches her with her plants and decides to take revenge, hatching a plan to separate the officer from his wife, Luci. From there, the three women forge a friendship and immerse themselves together in a Madrid full of parties, excesses, and extravagant characters, exploring their freedom and breaking taboos in the midst of the cultural effervescence of the 1980s.
