The group’s research activity focuses on instrumentation design and measurement for radiation detector systems.
Specifically, the group applies the research to two scientific and technical fields:
- Experimental nuclear physics (AGATA, NEDA and TRACE experiments, each with its corresponding European collaboration).
- Hospital medical physics (collaborating with La Fe Hospital, Radiophysics Service, and companies in the sector, particularly radiotherapy and dosimetry).
Regarding the activity in experimental nuclear physics (main activity of the group), the group has extensive experience in electronic instrumentation design for nuclear physics experiments (originally in particle experimental physics experiments developed at CERN, specifically for the experiments DELPHI/LEP and ATLAS/LHC) and continuously participates in the National Particle Physics and Accelerator Programme.
In regards to the activity in physical medicine (more recent activity), the group is currently collaborating with La Fe hospital centre (through the Mixed Research Units IRIMED IIS La Fe-UV), as well as with the leading European companies in intraoperative radiotherapy and in dosimetry. Simultaneously to these two research activities, the group has transferred technology to the productive Valencian sector through collaborations with companies. As a result of the group’s research, some of its members are co-authors in more than 100 indexed scientific articles, as well as being co-authors of 2 working patents and having published several book chapters in major US publishers.
