The seminar of Economic Geography: Tools and Techniques for Spatial Analysis organized by the Chair of International Finance- Banco Santander (Universitat de València)
On Monday, March 23 2026 was held a seminar ¨ Geography: Tools and Techniques for Spatial Analysis¨, organized by the Department of Accountancy and the Chair of International Finance- Banco Santander of the Universitat de València.
The event took place in Sala Manuel Vela (4PO4) and brought together doctoral students, researchers and faculty interested in incorporating spatial analysis and advanced econometric tools into their research lines. The session was led by Dr Miguel Ángel Puente Ajovín, professor of the Department of Economic Analysis from the University of Zaragoza.
The seminar discussed the practical use of key tools for spatial data analysis, including specialized software like QGIS,GeoDa and R/Rstudio, offering to the assistants an applied introduction to its use in academia and research.
Content of the seminar
- During the seminar the following aspects were worked on:
- Use of the data bases with the spatial information.
- Construction and management of the spatial data bases.
- The basics of space econometrics models.
- Key statistics for the analysis of the spatial relations between the variables.
- Estimation and interpretation of spatial econometric results.
This seminar reinforces the commitment of the Chair of International Finance-Banco Santander with the training in advanced analysis tools and the incorporation of innovative methodologies that contribute to the development of research in the economic and financial field.
