Chair for International Finances - Banco Santander Universitat de València awards the prizes of the 5th Financial Literacy Contest

Last Thursday 30 October 2025, at 12:00pm, in the Graduate Hall of the Faculty of Economics of the Universitat de València took place the awards ceremony of the 5th Edition of the 'Financial Literacy Contest', within the framework of the 15th Edition of the World Savings Day. The event, funded by the Chair for International Finance - Banco Santander, aims to promote financial education among young people, including the understanding of economic and financial concepts in a creative and didactic way.

The call intends to recognise the creativity and talent of students from the Valencian Community that are currently studying the last years of ESO (Compulsory Secondary Education), of Bachillerato or of a Higher Level Training Course, valuing their capacity to communicate economic and financial concepts in a clear, original and didactic way. 

In this 5th edition, there were 56 proposals: 46 in the Bachillerato category, 9 in the ESO category, and 1 in the Training Course category. During the event, the winning videos were projected. The videos stood out because of their originality and their creative way of  communicating concepts regarding saving, investment and financial management. The panel of judges awarded the following prizes:

In the Training Course Category: 
1st Prize: 'El Viaje del dinero: Transferencias en el Comercio Internacional' from the CIPFP Ausiàs March. Made by: Nerea Briz Ramos, Nuria Mayquez Olaya and Paula Garcés Berenguer directed by Alejandro Benet Zepf.

In the ESO category: 
2nd Prize: 'Gestiona tu Deuda' from the IES Ferrer y Guardia. Made by Maia Novalbos Mrdja, Irene Castelló Serrano, Mª José Miranda Rojas and Inés Taberner García and directed by Silvia Aparisi Requena.
And Prize 'Ahorra y Disfruta' from the IES Campanar. Made by Alejandra Castelló Gámez and Carla Pols Ruiz-Belloso and directed by Margarita Urbano Sales.

In the Bachillerato category:
2nd Prize: 'Los Juegos de la Inversión' from the Colegio Escolapias Gandia. Made by Victoria Solís Gimeno, Blanca Escandell Lluesma, Iker Martí Vázquez and Claudia Nogueroles Catalá and directed by Sandra Soldevila Martínez.
And Prize: 'Guacamole en Peligro, El Drama del Arancel' from the Colegio Jesús-María. Made by Amparo Román Sancho, Gabriel Román Sancho and Mª Carmela Ruiz Navarro and directed by Marta Iranzo Ortiz.

The event was led by Justo Herrera, Vice-Principal for Economics and Infrastructure at the Universitat de València; Francisco Muñoz, Dean of the Faculty of Economics; and Begoña Herrero, Director of the Chair for International Finance - Banco Santander. All of them agreed on highlighting the importance of financial education for the academic and professional future of students, as well as the value of this contest in approaching economy to young people in a practical and appealing way.

With this fifth edition, the Chair for International Finance - Banco Santander reaffirms its commitment with financial education and research, encouraging educational centres from the Valencian Community to participate and create an interest among young people to understand the role of finances in current society.
