Dr. Marie Kreĉmarová

VC (79K) Marie Kreĉmarová studied Biomedical and clinical technology at Czech Technical University in Prague (CVUT), Czech Republic, where she obtained her Bachelor and Engineer/Master degrees. During her master study she worked at the Institute of Physics (IoP), group of Materials for Nanosystems and Biointerfaces (MNB), Prague, Czech Republic on Deposition of nano-crystalline diamond films and its material and electrical characterizations (2010-2012). She started in October 2012 Ph.D. studies at the CVUT focused on development of a sensor for optical detection of charged molecules based on nitrogen-vacancy quantum emitter charge state in diamond combined with microfluidic electrochemical system. She continued work as a Ph.D. researcher at the IoP group of MNB on Plasma-enhanced chemical vapour deposition (PECVD) of diamond thin films and its material and electrical characterizations (2012-2016). Within the Erasmus program she continued her studies at the Institute for Materials Research, Photonics and Quantum Lab, Hasselt, Belgium between 2015 and 2016 to construct the sensor (thin film PECVD and physical vapour deposition (PVD), photolithography, confocal microscopy, electrochemistry). She defended the Ph.D. in June 2018. Currently as a Junior Postdoc, she is working on fabrication of 2D quantum emitters for scalable on-chip quantum photonic hybrid microsystems devices within the international project Scalable Two-Dimensional Quantum Integrated Photonics at the Institute of Materials Science of the University of Valencia.

Dr. Alejandro Molina Sánchez

VC (79K) I am a theoretical physicist working on the simulation of the optical properties of nanostructured materials. I graduated in the University of Murcia (Spain) and I have done my PhD Thesis at the University of Valencia (Spain). After my PhD, I have worked as a postdoc in the Institute of Electronics, Microelectronics and Nanotechnology of Lille (France) and I have been Research Associate during five years at the University of Luxembourg. Currently, I have a Juan de la Cierva-Incorporación contract in the Institute of Materials Science at the University of Valencia. I have been the Principal Investigator of the project "modelling of carrier dynamics and ultra-fast spectroscopy in two-dimensional materials" and I have been a collaborator in other European projects. My expertise covers the use of first principles and empirical methods to investigate physical properties 2D materials and currently I am working on the following research topics: (i) ultra-fast dynamics of photo-generate carriers, (ii) exciton physics in 2D materials, and (iii) physics of the electron-phonon and exciton-phonon interaction and (iv) ab-initio theoretical Raman spectroscopy.

Dr. Juan Fco. Sánchez Royo

VC (79K) He is integrated in the unit of research of Optoelectronic Materials and Devices (UMDO) and is responsible for the Lowdim research line at the Materials Science Institute (ICMUV) of the University of Valencia, Spain. He received the B.S., and Ph.D. degrees in physics from the University of Valencia in 1992 and 1998, respectively. During his PhD, he performed two research stays at the Hahn-Meitner Institute of Berlin (Germany). After a postdoctoral stay (1999-2001) at the French-Spanish beamline at the LURE Synchrotron (France), he set up a research line devoted to the electronic characterization of materials by photoemission (UPS and XPS) at the University of Valencia. Since 2002 he occupies a permanent position at the University of Valencia and became Full Professor in October 2019. During this last period, he has also performed several research stays at SOLEIL Synchrotron (France), at University of California Berkeley (USA), and at Heriot-Watt University (UK). His current research interests include two-dimensional materials (layered semiconductors, topological insulators, and graphene), electronic and optoelectronic characterization of low-dimensional materials and related devices.
