On Thursday, 26 February, at 5:00 p.m., the seminar “Artificial Intelligence in Social Work in Healthcare Settings” will take place as part of the open activities of the Master’s Degree in Social Work in Healthcare Settings.
The seminar will be delivered by David Prades, a social worker and digital health entrepreneur with direct experience in care homes and hospitals. He is co-founder of theca.studio, a platform that applies generative AI to capture life stories and everyday conversations (text or audio) and transform them into structured, reusable updates for the socio-healthcare team —and, where appropriate, into a communication layer for families— without adding extra documentation workload. His work combines social intervention, data ethics and the design of practical tools for real-world environments.
He has promoted projects with older people, mental health units and intergenerational programmes, exploring how AI can improve continuity of care, the quality of shared information and the experience of patients and caregivers. He is also co-founder of other initiatives and appears in various media outlets within the field of social work.
This activity is open to students, professionals, lecturers, researchers and the general public. It is the last activity scheduled for the 2025-2026 academic year and aims to provide a space for reflection within the framework of the Master’s Degree in Social Work in Healthcare Settings delivered by the Universitat d’Alacant, the Universitat de Barcelona, the Universitat de Girona, the Universitat de les Illes Balears, the Universitat de Lleida, the Universidad de Murcia, the Universitat Rovira i Virgili and the Universitat de València.
