The development of more efficient and sustainable processes to access molecular complexity is a fundamental topic in organic chemistry. The use of homogeneous catalysts based on earth-abundant, environmentally friendly, easily available, and cheap first-row metals is a challenge in many industrial processes.
Our Research Group develops sustainable catalytic transformations for the synthesis of industrially relevant organic chemicals. The design of homogeneous catalysts is based on abundant first-row transition metals and catalysts efficiency is improved through ligand engineering. Mechanistic studies and structural determination of intermediates allow researchers to further understand reaction pathways by opening new organic frontiers.
