Our team member Verónica Gómez took part in the PANGENOME 2025 Conference organised by the Spanish Society for Microbiology. Verónica presented her work entitled ‘The aryl hydrocarbon receptor modulates gut microbiota composition in a sex- and genotype-dependent manner in a murine model’ in poster session.

The study demonstrates that the absence of the AhR receptor alters the composition of the gut microbiome in mice, with effects dependent on sex and genotype. The reduction in beneficial bacteria such as Bifidobacterium suggests that AhR deficiency could promote disorders such as constipation, positioning it as a potential therapeutic target.
Well done, Vero!
