
On Wednesday, 29 May the Universitat de València (UV) and the Muy Ilustre Colegio Oficial de Farmacéuticos de València (MICOF, Professional Institute of Pharmaceutics of Valencia) presented the Rational Use of Medicines (RUM) Chair at the Faculty of Pharmacy and Food Sciences and at the institute’s headquarters in Paterna.
These events were attended by the Head of the RUM Chair Maria Luisa Ferrándiz, who pointed out the importance of the chair to move forward together both in RUM training and research, and Member of the MICOF Research, Education and Training José Sendra, who highlighted the chair’s intention to promote training, cultural, research and university activities on RUM.
Community pharmaceutical and UV’s Adjunct Professor Isabel García-Arnandis shared the advances and new perspectives in teaching and research from the Degree in Pharmacy, and MICOF Project Director Isabel Romero did the same from the collegial perspective.
Salvador Gutiérrez, from the MICOF Department of Pharmaceutical Assistance Services and Training and Carmen Montesinos, from the Department of Pharmacology at the UV, presented the first RUM line of research: ‘The detection of drug-related problems and potentially inadequate prescriptions from the community pharmacy.’ Vice-Dean of Quality and Communication of the UV and Member of the Chair Javier Pereda closed the meeting.
