Presentation

The research group Laboratory of Research in Endothelial Cells (from spanish Laboratorio de Investigación en Células Endoteliales, L.In.C.E.) is made up of a multidisciplinary team of researchers with expertise in Vascular Physiology, Molecular and Cellular Biology and Biochemistry. Our research focuses on sex differences in the cardiovascular system, with special attention to the menopause as a fundamental physiological stage in the development of cardiovascular diseases in women. Our lines of research aim to determine the effect of ageing and lack of oestrogen on vascular function and include:

  • The identification of new signalling pathways regulated by estradiol in endothelial cells.
  • The study of estradiol-regulated transcriptomic profiles in vascular cells.
  •   Endothelial dysfunction associated with sex and ageing.
  • The effect of ageing and sex differences in circulating miRNAs in myocardial infarction.

To this end, a translational approach involving cell cultures, animal models of ageing and menopause and serum samples from patients with cardiovascular pathology is used.
