INTRAS and the SEOFER Chair in Road Safety and Intelligent Mobility have presented a document with comments to the draft NOM-034-SCT2 SEDATU-2021 Standard to support ANASEVI (National Alliance for Road Safety) in the advice framed in the public consultation process opened by the Government of Mexico.
The draft Official Standard on "Road Signs and Devices for Streets and Highways" aims to establish the basis for the creation of a harmonized signage in the Mexican territory.
One of the main objectives of this NOM is to privilege road safety on streets and highways in the country following the narrative of the mobility pyramid, which puts people as a priority.
Once approved as the definitive NOM, it will replace the current NOM-034-SCT2-2011. Unlike the latter, the draft NOM broadens its scope in the urban environment, gives greater emphasis to vulnerable users and incorporates signs and devices for mainly urban use.
