R&D&I lines: vulnerable road users

Sometimes we ignore them. Other times we simply don't see them. But they are there. Vulnerable road users (cyclists, pedestrians, motorcyclists) interact daily with heavier and larger vehicles, generating risky situations that on too many occasions end up causing an accident.

In fact, and according to the consolidated figures of the DGT (Directorate General of Traffic) for 2019, out of the 197,829 accidents with victims in Spain, a total of 15,085 involved at least one pedestrian; 8,405 involved at least one cyclist; 7,075 involved at least one moped; and 30,466 involved at least one motorcyclist. This represents just over 30% of the accident figures.

For all these reasons, with this line of research we aim to gain a deeper understanding of the causes of these accidents and their consequences, so that we can provide our society with advances in a pandemic that has been affecting us for far too long.
