INTRAS, supported by the SEOFER Chair in Road Safety and Intelligent Mobility, has organised the activity "Pedagogical Radar/Electric Skateboards", within the Expociencia 2022 event held at the Science Park of the University of Valencia on 28th May 2022.

The activity consisted of the installation of a pedagogical radar (a speedometer equipped with a luminous speed display) to measure the instantaneous speed of a personal mobility vehicle (electric scooter).

The aim of the activity was twofold:

- To increase knowledge and awareness of the use of Personal Mobility Vehicles, which have been booming in recent times, and which are certainly beneficial from the point of view of contributing to reducing emissions but which are not exempt from generating problems, among which are the risk that their drivers have and the risk that they can cause to pedestrians, which undoubtedly increases with speed.

- To raise awareness of the usefulness and importance of signage, especially dynamic signage, from a pedagogical perspective, which may include concepts relating to its physical operation, even going so far as to deal with the importance of supervision and control of compliance with the rules.

In total, it is estimated that more than 100 people have received the theoretical notions, and about 60 have been able to participate in the practical part.

Expociencia is an open event aimed at all audiences to showcase the science, technology and innovation carried out at the University of Valencia. This year's event is part of the International Year of Basic Sciences for Sustainable Development, with the slogan: "Basic science at the heart of innovation and sustainability".
