The support offered by the SEOFER Chair of Road Safety and Intelligent Mobility has consisted in the advice and preparation of projects by the City Councils to the Program of aid to municipalities for the implementation of low-emission areas and digital and sustainable transformation of urban transport.

This is a call from the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda (MITMA) within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, with funding from the European Union through the NextGenerationEU funds.

The projects to which support has been given, and which have finally been requested by the City Councils, are framed in the following areas:

• The implementation of Low Emission Zones, in order to comply with Law 7/2021, of May 20, on Climate Change and Energy Transition, which requires their establishment before 2023 for municipalities with more than 50,000 inhabitants.
• The design and implementation of a set of actions aimed at the integral improvement of sustainable mobility, including the promotion and improvement of mobility by bicycle and other personal mobility vehicles, the approach of solutions in particularly sensitive areas such as school environments, and other actions aimed at improving public transport.
