The director of the Chair for Territorial Thinking Joan Noguera – Gandía, Joan del Alcázar, participated in the I Session of the IIDL “Universitat i territori: Càtedres amb mirada local” (University and territory – Chairs with local perspective), hosted on last 10 June at the University of Jaume I of Castellón.
His intervention took place during the third session of the event, focused on the territorial culture and the demographic challenge. During the intervention, he explained the objectives, the focus, and the first results of the Chair. This initiative, powered by the Universitat de València and Gandía’s city council, was born from a space of analysis, planning, and territorial management, with special attention to the Safor region and Valencian Central Regions.
Joan del Alcázar emphasised the Chair’s role as an observatory of the social, economic and environmental data that contribute to the public decisions-making based on evidence, and to the boost of a sustainable development. Additionally, he indicated the recovery of the Observatori Econòmic i Social de Gandía as a key milestone in this first phase of the activity.
The presence of the Chair for Joan Noguera in this meeting reinforces its commitment to knowledge transfer and the collaboration with academic institutions to face territorial challenges with a critical, scientific and proximity vision.
