The objectives of these session are to help lecturers:

-Develop a broad understanding of the nuances of the English language in the academic context

-Distinguish the formal and informal registers of the English language to help lecturers express themselves adequately in the academic context

-Develop oral expression skills in English applicable to oral communications in formal and informal registers

The sessions will consist of clases on:

-The structure of oral presentations

-Listening comprehension activities to improve comprehension of academic spoken English to be able to answer questions from the public

-Spoken expression in English: dtress, rhythm and intonation

-Pronunciation tips on how to avoid common mistakes

-The acquisition of more complex gemmatical structures: transformations of sentences with a subject/verb/object type structure into cleft and pseudo-cleft sentences, verbs with prepositions/adverbs, idiomatic expressions, set phrases and academic collocations

Participants will be able expected to adquire or improve the following competences or silks:

-The ability to structure an academic presentation or class in English

-The ability to understand academic discourse in English

-A greater capacity for oral expression in academic English

-Acquire greater flexibility in managing the formal and informal registers of the English language

To obtain the final certification, you must obtain the grade "Apto" in the course and therefore you must have met the following evaluation criteria:

• Attendance at 85% of the face-to-face online sessions
• Completion of all the online activities (as each activity will be available online, the participants will be able to do them whenever they wish between one class and the next).
