The director of the Chair of New Green Transition at the University of Valencia, Aurora Pedro, will participate in the Mother Earth Programme organised by the United Nations (UN) to celebrate International Mother Earth Day on April 22.
Aurora Pedro, professor of the Department of Applied Economics of the UV and director of the Chair of New Green Transition at the UV since 2020, will give a presentation on 24 April and will participate in a working meeting the following day. The initiative will take place at the UN headquarters in New York.
The aim is to approach different ways of looking at the world through the experiences and interventions of the speakers. These numerous visions can facilitate the implementation of the 2030 Agenda, help to achieve harmony with nature and the earth and facilitate its restoration after so many years of damage to ecosystems.
Although it was approved in 2009 by the UN General Assembly, International Mother Earth Day has been celebrated since 1970. It means recognizing the responsibility that corresponds to humans to promote harmony with nature, in order to achieve a fair balance between the economic, social and environmental needs of present and future generations.
