‘Longevity, Social Justice, and Public Policy: Intersectional Perspectives from the Territories"

Department professors Rosa Roig and Ángeles Tortosa, together with GEGOP-University of Viçosa (Brazil) researcher Carmen Pineda, have coordinated the book "Longevity, Social Justice, and Public Policy: Intersectional Perspectives from the Territories". This work was created as a complementary initiative to the Second International Congress on Public Policies on Longevity, held at the University of Valencia in January 2025 and organized by the Department of Applied Economics.

The book brings together analyses and proposals from experts in public policy to help decision-makers create long-lived and sustainable societies. It emerged as part of the Second International Congress on Public Policies on Longevity, offering tools to governments to manage population aging effectively.

The texts analyze various issues related to longevity from different perspectives. Several chapters focus on gender inequalities affecting older women, mentioning problems such as job insecurity, structural violence, and lack of visibility. The book proposes measures to incorporate a gender perspective into social, health, and urban policies for this group.

The work features contributions from leading international voices such as Suzanne Serruya, director of the PAHO/WHO Department of Women's Health; Mirna Elia García, director of the Nuevo León State Institute for Adults (IEPAM) in Mexico; Grzegorz Gawron from the University of Silesia in Katowice (Poland); Alexandra Lopes from the University of Porto (Portugal), and Domagoja Buljan Barbca from the University of Split (Croatia), among others.

The book has been published by the Brazilian Society of Public Administration (SBAP) and is available online for free.
