Research Areas

 A

Solvent mixtures containing ionic liquids

This line is intended to cover the experimental determination of vapor-liquid equilibrium data of binary and ternary systems containing an ionic liquid, and also aims to make the experimental determination of the density and other physical properties of these liquid systems. For this type of compounds, whose industrial importance is growing exponentially in recent years, many of its physical properties are not known, and it is of great importance to obtain them. The obtained data will fitted using the existing semiempirical and thermodynamic models.

Fields of application

(a) Physical properties of mixtures containing ionic liquids.

(b) Design of liquid-liquid extraction using ionic liquids.

(c) Recovery of extracts dissolved in ionic liquids.

(d) Recovery of reaction products dissolved in ionic liquids.

  B

Solvents mixtures containing inorganic salts

This line is intended to cover the experimental determination of vapor-liquid equilibrium data of ternary systems formed by two solvents (one of which may be water) and an inorganic salt, and three corresponding binary systems, as well as the experimental determination of the density of these liquid systems. The obtained data will fitted using the existing semiempirical and thermodynamic models.

Fields of application

(a) Validation of existing thermodynamic models.

(b) Prediction of the thermodynamic behavior of solutions containing inorganic salts.

(c) Study of the structure of the solutions and the interactions between the present species.

(d) Design and operation of extractive distillation equipment with salt effect.
