What is a doctoral thesis?

The doctoral thesis is defined as an original research work carried out by the candidate in any discipline.

A doctoral thesis can be submitted as a compendium of publications or it is also eligible for the international mention, provided that these requirements are taken into account.

Deposit

The thesis deposit procedure is initiated by the PhD student through the Electronic Headquarters. Instructions for the submission of applications are available in the thesis deposit guide.

 

Your dossier will have to include the compulsory activities and the minimum number of hours specified in the Doctoral Programme, before proceeding to the deposit and defence of the thesis. the deposit and defence of the thesis.

Defense

Presentation to the members of the selection board, followed by a discussion with the members of the selection board, who may ask questions.

Doctors present at the public event may ask questions.

The examining board will award the overall mark for the thesis according to the following scale:

  • Ineligible
  • Approved
  • Notable
  • Excellent
SIf the qualification is "excellent", the mention cum laude may be awarded with the favourable and secret vote of the three members of the selection board.

The secretary of the examining board will have to issue the grade report, together with the TESEO form, duly signed, the justification of the deposit of the thesis in the institutional repository of the UV.
