University rectors, personalities from politics, business, national and international institutions have participated
Around 700 university rectors and leaders from 14 countries, personalities from politics, business, and national and international institutions met in Valencia on 8, 9 and 10 May.
Yeray López Arauco and Alonso Císcar Taulet, representatives from the University of Valencia in the FORTHEM Student Council were part of this important three-day event.
The meeting was attended by leading figures from different fields such as the scientist and academic Tim Berners-Lee, inventor of the Word Wide Web; the former Secretary of the Treasury of US President Bill Clinton and chief economist of the World Bank, Larry Summers; the 2006 Prince of Asturias Award for Scientific Research, Ignacio Cirac, and the head of conversational AI research strategy at Google AI, Pilar Manchón, among other internationally renowned experts.
Mavi Mestre, rector of the Universitat de València and president of the Academic Committee of the 5th Universia International Rectors' Summit was accompanied by the mayor of Valencia, Joan Ribó, the councillor for Innovation, Universities, Science and Digital Society of the Generalitat Valenciana, Josefina Bueno, the president of the Spanish Government, Pedro Sánchez and the President of the Generalitat Valenciana, Ximo Puig.
Under the slogan "University and Society", debates were held around three main axes:
- Lifelong learning or continuous learning.
- The promotion of entrepreneurship and innovation
- Networks and interconnection between universities
