The main goal of this action is to empower and support postdoctoral researchers
The FORTHEM Alliance will be offering in total eight secondment placements for Early-Stage Researchers with non-academic partners for up to 3 months linked to a concrete prospective research project in which the host can be involved (MSCA, ERC Starting Grants, etc.).
This funding call supports FORTHEM postdoctoral researchers to build non-academic partnerships, and foster future research projects. Up to 3-month secondments abroad are funded, offering a co-funding contribution of up to 3000 € for travel, accommodation, and daily expenses.
The main goal of this action is to empower and support postdoctoral researchers. Secondments should lead to a project together with the host institution.
The postdoctoral researchers will act as ambassadors, and they will set up new networks and evaluate prospects of cooperation between sending and hosting institutions. The reports need to be turned in at the latest 60 days after the end of the secondment period.
Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz (JGU) will be the funding management university responsible for payments to the beneficiaries or postdoctoral researchers. Each secondment will be co-funded with a maximum of 3.000 €. On an individual basis it may be decided if the total amount for each secondment will be paid as an extra top-up to the salary, directly to cover the travel and accommodation costs, or as a stipend going directly to the postdoctoral researcher. This depends on the status of the applicant.
Eligibility:
- Postdoctoral researchers from all disciplines
- PhD obtained no longer than 8 years ago at stage of application
- Linked to one of the FORTHEM universities (working contract or official stipend/fellowship)
- Linked to a concrete prospective research project

Results published: end of February 2024
Secondments: must take place in the period 01/03/2024 and 31/12/2024.
