The video stream of the FORTHEM FOR REGIONS event on 22 September is now available on FORTHEM's Youtube channel. The three-day event held in Mainz brought together representatives of FORTHEM's partner cities and their chambers of commerce and industry, together with the seven university partners from all over Europe.
Members of these groups engaged in panel discussions outlining FORTHEM’s visions in regard to Outreach and Mobility. Vanessa Debias-Sainton, Head of Higher Education Unit of the European Commission, emphasized in her keynote the potential of European University Initiative objectives for building a new model of inter-university cooperation. The importance of transnational cooperation for regional development was stressed in the welcoming addresses by State Secretary Heike Raab, Johannes Gutenberg University (JGU) President Georg Krausch and Vice-President Stephan Jolie. "Because of the pandemic, the event became possible only now. We are thus all the more grateful to have had the opportunity to come together", Professor Krausch explained in a statement. "We used this chance to welcome two new FORTHEM members while, at the same time, promoting interaction at the city administration and chamber of commerce level."
