Awatef Ketiti holds a PhD in Audiovisual Communication with a specialization in gender studies from the University of Valencia. She earned her Bachelor's degree in Journalism and Communication Sciences from the Université de Tunis and has a postgraduate degree in the Women and Development program from the Institute for Women's Studies at the University of Valencia. She is currently a lecturer in Audiovisual Communication at the University of Valencia, as well as a faculty member in the Master's in International Development Cooperation and in the specialized degree program "Expert in Mediterranean Societies: Citizenship and Socio-Political Change in the Mediterranean."

She has served as a guest professor for six sessions of the Mediterranean Chair at the Patronat Sud/Nord of the University of Valencia and as an affiliate professor at the Center for Women’s Studies at the University of Alicante. She has carried out research and teaching stays at the International Development Research Center (Canada), the Institute of Global Studies in Geneva (Switzerland), the universities of Valdivia and Playa Ancha (Chile), the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru, the Institut de Presse et des Sciences de l’Information (Tunisia), the University of Genoa (Italy), the Pontifical Javeriana University (Colombia), and the Universidad Tres de Febrero in Buenos Aires (Argentina). In addition, she has taught at Roma Tre University (Italy) through the Erasmus faculty exchange program.

Her research focuses on gender and communication studies, representation, interculturality, cinema, and innovative teaching from a gender perspective. She was awarded the Manuel Castillo Research Prize in 2013 by the General Foundation of the University of Valencia.

She is a member of the research groups Interculturality and Communication (InterCom) at the University of Valencia, and the Laboratory for Foresight and Research in Communication, Culture, and Cooperation (LAPREC) at the Autonomous University of Barcelona.

Consultancy and Knowledge Transfer Contract

She has worked as a consultant and researcher for the research and transfer project "Social Movements and Civil Society in North Africa after the Revolutions" (2013), funded by the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
