Biography

I have successfully led the design and development of the KM3NeT acquisition electronics, serving as the KM3NeT electronics group coordinator and a member of the Technical Steering Committee from 2013 to 2025.

The electronics feature 31 TDC channels with a resolution of 1 ns. Given that maintenance is not feasible in the depths of the Mediterranean Sea, we conducted a thorough theoretical and practical evaluation of the electronics' reliability. We achieved the necessary synchronization by integrating the White Rabbit protocol, allowing for 1-ns synchronization and 1 Gbps data transfer over optic fiber lengths of up to 100 km. To date, electronics boards for more than 1,200 DOMs have been produced, with 51 lines already deployed and taking data. I have also led the upgrade of the acquisition electronics.

The neutrino telescope represents one of the world’s most complex and extensive synchronization networks.

My Ph.D. dissertation received the biennial prize for the best thesis on Instrumentation, Computation, and Technological Development from the Spanish Astronomical Society in 2021, and I was honored with the Nikola Tesla Award from the COGITI-Valencia for best career achievement in 2023.
