Biography

Roberto Fernández Morán is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electronics at the University of Valencia and a researcher in the ISP (Image Signal Processing) group at the Image Processing Laboratory (IPL). He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering, as well as a Master’s degree and a PhD in Remote Sensing from the University of Valencia (2018).
His research focuses on passive microwave remote sensing, signal processing, and the application of artificial intelligence techniques to Earth observation. He has collaborated on several projects with the European Space Agency (ESA), including the SMOS mission.
He is currently involved in the development of various products for the upcoming CIMR (Copernicus Imaging Microwave Radiometer) space mission, related to soil moisture, vegetation, land surface temperature, and surface water fraction. He is the author of more than 45 indexed publications and has over 2,000 citations with an h-index of 17.
