Biography

I hold a degree in Chemical Engineering and a Master’s degree in Industrial Safety and Environment, both awarded by the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV). I obtained a PhD in Industrial Engineering and Production from the UPV in 2014, receiving the Extraordinary Doctoral Award in 2015. During my doctoral studies, I carried out a research stay at the School of Materials of the University of Manchester (United Kingdom), under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Robert Akid. After defending my PhD thesis, I was employed (from 2014 to 2020) as a Senior Technician with a PhD degree in the Electrochemical Engineering and Corrosion (IEC) research group, belonging to the ISIRYM University Institute (Institute of Industrial Safety, Radiophysics and Environment) of the Universitat Politècnica de València. From 2020 to 2024, I served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Valencia. I am currently a Full Professor in the same department. My research focuses on several fields, including nanotechnology, photocatalysis, (photo)electrochemistry, and environmental engineering. I have been awarded two six-year research periods (“sexenios”) recognized by ANECA. I have an h-index of 25, 75 JCR-indexed articles, 2 book chapters, 3 complete books, and more than 60 contributions to national and international conferences, some of them oral presentations. Among these, I highlight one invited lecture on photoelectrocatalysis in environmental and energy processes at the 1st Ibero-American Conference on Scientific Dissemination “Electrochemical technology at the service of Society: applications in environment and energy”. I have co-authored publications with several international research centers, such as the Corrosion and Protection Centre (School of Materials, University of Manchester, United Kingdom), the Corrosion-Electrochemistry Laboratory (Faculty of Sciences, Mohammed V-Agdal University of Rabat, Morocco), the Institute for Surface Science and Corrosion at Friedrich-Alexander University (Erlangen-Nuremberg), and Al-Farabi Kazakh National University (Kazakhstan). I have participated in 17 pre-competitive research projects at national and regional levels (one of them as Principal Investigator), as well as projects funded by universities. In terms of technology transfer, I have contributed to 1 patent and 7 technology transfer contracts with companies and technological centers. Notably, this includes a contract exceeding €200,000 with the company Power Electronics for the development of a rechargeable lithium-ion LFP-graphite battery with a prismatic configuration. I have supervised 2 PhD theses, one of them with International Mention, and I am currently supervising a third one. Additionally, I have supervised more than 25 Bachelor’s Final Projects and over 15 Master’s Final Projects.

Regarding teaching activities, during my PhD I taught several courses in the Bachelor’s degrees in Chemical Engineering, Industrial Technologies Engineering, and Energy Engineering at the Universitat Politècnica de València. Furthermore, after completing my PhD, I delivered a 15-hour theoretical-practical course on Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) at the Public University of Navarre. I also taught at the Universitat Politècnica de València as an Associate Professor and as a Postdoctoral Researcher for four academic years (2016/2017–2019/2020). Currently, I teach in several undergraduate and master’s degree programs at the University of Valencia as a Full Professor.
