VSB es full professor of Communication Arts at the  UV. During the Winter-Spring Semester of 2013 he held the Chair of Spanish Culture and Civilization at King Juan Carlos Center (New York University), in February-March 2018, he was appointed as visiting professor at the Université de Paris-Sorbonne. He has developed three periods of research as a visiting scholar: NYU holding a Salvador de Madariaga-Senior fellowship (3 months, 2017), 2 months divided into two periods at the Bophana Audiovisual Resource Center and at the American University of Phnom Penh (Cambodia, Octuber 2014, October 2015). Co-holder of the Chair of Estudios Artísticos at the museum IVAM (2016-2018), he has led two research projects over this period: Charisma and image of political leaders during the Spanish Transition to Demoracy and currently Representation of perpetrators of mass violence: concepts, narratives, and images. He edited along with L. Zylberman a monographic issue of the journal Genocide Studies and Prevention (18.2, 2018), another in the French journal  Mémoires en jeu / Memories at Stake (París) and is the author of a book entitled, Miradas criminales, ojos de víctima. Imágenes de la aflicción en Camboya (2017). He leads the reserach group  REPERCRI (www.repercri.com) and his forthcoming bookwill be publish at Alianza editorial: La muerte en los ojos. Qué perpetran las imágenes de perpetradores.
