Biography

Patricia Picazo Sanz (València, 1980) holds a PhD and is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Language Theory and Communication Sciences at the University of Valencia. Her research focuses on cultural studies, postcolonial and subaltern theories—with special attention to African contexts and their diasporas—and gender perspective, explored through the analysis of photography, cinema, and literature.

She has over 15 years of professional experience in the film industry and in the management and development of cultural projects. She has developed technical assistance contracts for the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID), coordinating cultural cooperation projects in Equatorial Guinea and Bolivia (2010–2015).

She is currently a member of the Diversitats Commission and the Visual Studies Group on the Memory of Slavery, Colonialism and their Legacies (GEVMECYL), as well as the educational innovation project “Promoting Gender Perspective in University Teaching: Co-teaching and Collaborative Learning for Equality”, all of them affiliated with the University of Valencia.
