New doctors invested in a solemn act

In a solemn act in the assembly hall of La Nau, 35 new doctors have been invested in this first session. They came from the faculties of Medicine and Dentistry, Law, Social Sciences, Biological Sciences, Physics, Chemistry and Education.

The Principal of the Universitat de València, Mª Vicenta Mestre, has presided over the ceremony alongside the Vice-principal of Studies and Linguistic Policy, Isabel Vázquez; the Vice-principal of Innovation and Transference, Mª Dolores Real; the General Secretary of the Universitat de València, Mª Elena Olmos; and the Director of the School of Doctorate Studies, José Vicente Bagán.

The ceremony counted with the participation of the Vice-principal for Culture and Sports, Antonio Ariño; the Vice-principal for Territorial Projection and Society, Jorge Hermosilla; the Vice-principal for Employment and Formative Programmes, Adela Valero; and the Vice-principal for Economy and Infrastructure. The Vice-principal for Academic Regulation and Teaching staff, Ernest Cano; and the Vice-principal for Internationalisation and Cooperation, Carlos Padilla; were also present in the event. The Deans of the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, Francisco Javier Chorro; of the Faculty of Law, Francisco Javier Palau; of the Faculty of Biological Sciences, Mª Carmen baño; of the Faculty of Physics, Jordi Vidal; of the Faculty of Chemistry, Adela Maurí; of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Albert Moncusí and the Vice-dean of Education, Ana María Botella were also present at the event.

The new doctors that have been invested in the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry are Isabel Pascual, Paula Pelechano, María de las Nieves del Pozo, Carolina Mir, Rut Victorio, Sabrina Kinder, Ramón Halcón, Carolina Pérez, Ignacio Faus, Jessica Sena and María de los Desamparados Quiles. Luis Reche, Deivys Javier Pabon, Alberto Payá, Adriana Moscardó and Cristina Hernández-Martí have been invested as doctors in the Faculty of Law.

The new doctors that have been invested in the Faculty of Biological Sciences are Sara Callejón, Mª Jesús Andrés, Ángela Carrió, Clara García, Pablo Vera, Vicente Daniel Crespo, Francisco Javier Verdú and Eva María Asensio. 

Amparo Benlloch, Manuel Campo, Carolina Doña, Drazen Skokovic and Daniel González are the new doctors in the Faculty of Physics. The new doctors that have been invested in the Faculty of Chemistry are Mª Merce Cascant, Daniel Gallart, Jeymy Tatiana Sarmiento and María Vergara. The Faculty of Social Sciences counts with Mª Amparo López as new doctor and Guillem Escorihuela will be a new doctor in the Faculty of Education.

The Director of the School of Doctorate Studies, José Vicente Bagán, highlighted that it is an honour for the Universitat de València to have educated the new doctors. Bagán underlined that 60% of the 700 doctoral theses in 62 different programmes have been read by women.

Mª Vicenta Mestre indicated in her speech that the new doctors have received the maximum academic level, which is an honour for them and the University. In addition, the Principal asked the new Government to make real a necessary pact between science and education and to stop the restrictions that the teaching and researching personnel suffer in public universities.
