Networks and Virtual Environments Group (GREV), is a research body of Universitat de València, whose main line of research is around high performance computing in bioinformatics.

This research line focuses on the development of high-performance computing, using advanced computer architectures, for the processing and analysis of methylation in genomic data produced by Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS).

They have developed the HPG-Msuite, a set of tools to assist biological researchers in methylation analysis. Their efforts have been recognised, as papers publishing these tools have appeared in top quartile journals such as BMC Bioinformatics.

The first tool, HPG-Methyl, is used to align DNA samples against the reference genome and to analyse their methylation. Once we have taken this step we find HPG-Hmapper, which builds a methylation map of samples based on the results of the previous tool.

HPG-Dhunter is the last step in methylation analysis, and improves the other tools. It shows graphically where the methylation differences of the samples are. This is revolutionary because it can help with cancer and other disease research.

Finally, this tool has an easy-to-use version called HPG-Dhunter-Batch. This is a web server connected to the GREV server, where researchers can upload their data and collect it without major complications.
