Aquesta primera és conseqüència de la bona impressió que quatre dels nostres estudiants de matemàtiques (Dolores Garcia, Nuria Molner, Edgar Arribas i Joan Palacios), que ja estan en l'IMDEA, han causat allí:


Hi ha 8 places obertes d'estudiant de doctorat. Encara que la descripció semble una mica esotèrica, per l'experiència que tenim, un estudiant de matemàtiques no té problema per a posar-se al dia en poc temps. B) Fully funded PhD positions at the University of Cyprus on edge computing, big data analytics and related technologies under the Marie Sklodowska-Curie ETN “RAIS: Real Time Analytics for the Internet of Sports.” Strong partnerships with leading universities and innovative companies in Europe and USA. C) Una altra professora, Alessia Milani de la Universitat de Bordeus, està buscant un estudiant de doctorat:

"I am looking for a good Phd student. The CNRS has allocated a Phd fellowship for a thesis on distributed computing under my supervision. If you have good students to whom you are not going to offer a Phd position, or any ideas where I can diffuse my proposal in Spain, please let me know."


A PhD position in distributed computing is open at the University of Bordeaux/LaBRI. The position is funded by the CNRS.

RESEARCH TOPIC: Limited-persistence distributed objects. Shared data is at the core of distributed applications, either due to the intrinsic nature of the application (e.g., social networks intended for sharing content) or to scale computation. Classically data persistence is a fundamental requirement: once data is changed, this change must be permanent unless and until it is overwritten. Unfortunately, guaranteeing persistence while ensuring consistency and data availability is a complex and expensive task and may even be impossible in failure-prone networks. While full persistence is fundamental for many critical applications (e.g., banking), limited data persistence is a key functionality of some distributed applications (for instance, the Snapchat social network attracts users based on the premise that user data is accessible only for a user-defined period and is deleted after that). Also some loss of information can be tolerated by real-time applications like video streaming to gain performance.


Finally, there is a growing concern that keeping user-sensitive data for an unrestricted period may have adverse effects on users' privacy. Motivated by these concerns, the objectives of the Phd thesis are to define objects with limited persistence, to investigate algorithmic techniques for implementing them and to gain a theoretical understanding of their implications on correctness, computability and complexity.

research in Beyond-5G Millimeter wave (mmWave) communication at TU Darmstadt, one of the top engineering schools in Germany. The candidates will join the wireless communication group in SEEMOO lab (https://www.seemoo.tu-darmstadt.de) headed by Prof.Dr. Matthias Hollick.


 Description of the available topics:

• Physical/MAC layer security in mmWave networks • mmWave for V2X communication • Resilient mmWave communication for industry 4.0 • Joint communication and sensing for Beyond 5G networks


Required expertise:

The project broadly focuses on Beyond-5G mmWave cellular networks. We expect the

candidates to possess at least one of the following expertise in the context of wireless


 • Physical layer security

• Applied machine learning techniques

 • Physical layer multicast

 • SDR-based wireless prototyping

 • Joint communication, sensing, and localization


 General requirements:

 • Excellent track record in Master/Bachelor degree from a top university • Strong analytical and implementation skills • Strong programming skills (C, C++, MATLAB, Python, etc) • Fluent in English (written and spoken) • Experience with software defined radio is a plus
