The goal of this doctoral programme is partly to provide doctoral students with high professional skills in research techniques in the areas of human rights, studies on peace and non-violence, and the requirements of human and sustainable development; issues which currently are a privileged field of study and innovation with a growing interdisciplinary nature. Moreover, also it aims to develop the research lines grouped under four big subject areas: Human rights and globalisation; Justice, democracy, citizenship and rights; Equality and non-discrimination; and International Protection of human rights and peacekeeping operations and finally; understanding that for achieving peace and a truly sustainable and human development focused on providing the most basic needs and not only economic growth, it is essential, to guarantee to all human beings (not just to the first world people) the full realisation of all human rights.
