Professors Silvia Barona and Carlos Esplugues of the Universitat de València, renowned experts in legal mediation issues, imparted several conferences of this field of Law during November and December 2016 at the Modelo University of Merida (Mexico).

The International Congress celebrated at the Modelo University of Merida (Mexico) the last 28 November 2016 joined forces with the renowned professors of the Universitat de València, Silvia Barona and Carlos Esplugues, in legal mediation issues.
The professor Barona exemplified it with the conference “Criminal justice on the divan”, while professor Carlos Espulgues did it with the presentation “New borders for Justice: civil and commercial mediation in the EU”.
Carlos Esplugues and Silvia Barona presented in two conferences the great challenges of mediation in the current situation of the resolution of conflicts
A month later, the last 28 December, both professors Carlos Esplugues and Silvia Barona also participated in a seminar organised by the Federal Judiciary of Merida (Mexico) in training courses for Mexican judges.
Both professionals and experts in mediation, they developed two conferences to expose the big challenges of mediation in the current situation of conflict resolutions, giving the advantages and disadvantages and, especially, the importance of the role of judges in the mediation integration into the legal framework. They had the opportunity of talking with distinguished Mexican jurists of the Supreme Court at the House of Legal Culture of Merida, Yucatan. Professor Barona focused her conference on the criminal mediation and professor Espulgues on civil and commercial mediation.
Great trajectory in mediation and arbitration
Professor Barona tops in her field, among other qualities, because of her trajectory linked to mediation and arbitration. In fact, she was president of the arbitration and mediation court of the Chamber of Commerce of Valencia (20017-2011). Currently, she is arbitrage of several national and international arbitration institutions. Also professor Espulgues tops in his long professional trajectory due to his labour as international lawyer, arbitrate and mediator.
