Esther Pillado González, researcher of the Jusost project, organises an international seminar about minors, vulnerability and justice at the University of Vigo

Days 18 and 19 2026, the University of Vigo hosted the international seminar “Menores, Vulnerabilidad y Justicia. Respuestas procesales e intervención social” (Minors, Vulnerability and Justice. Procedural responses and social intervention). This is a scientific initiative organised by Professor Dr Esther Pillado González. She gathered experts from different universities to reflect upon legal protection of minors and other vulnerable collectives from an interdisciplinary perspective.

In the framework of this meeting, several participants of the project Justicia sostenible en estado de mudanza global (JUSOST) – CIPROM 64/2023 GVA attended. Along with professor Esther Pillado González, professors Nicolas Rodríguez García and Ignacio Colomer Hernández also participated, by showing their research about some of the main challenges that contemporary justice has to face in terms of protection of vulnerable groups. 

Particularly, professor Ignacio Colomer Hernández gave the conference «La obtención de fuentes de prueba en los delitos contra menores: tratamiento de la información, los datos y las evidencias digitales» (Obtaining sources of evidence in crime against minors – treatment of the information, data, and digital evidence), in which he analysed legal guarantees associated with obtaining and using digital evidence in the criminal proceedings related to crimes against minors. His intervention addressed issues of special currents news related with the personal data protection, digital management information and evidentiary value of technology evidence in a context of an increasing digitalization of justice. 

Through the two sessions, the seminar enabled the exchange of experiences among researchers, Law experts and specialists of the social field, addressing procedural and institutional responses that are necessary to guarantee an efficient protection of minor rights and people in situation of vulnerability.

The participation of the JUSOST members in this meeting puts into value the commitment of the project to the study of challenges that protection of different vulnerable groups in an environment characterised by technological transformation, as well as the promotion of a more accessible, and sustainable justice with guarantees.
