Professor Dr Silvia Barona Vilar, main researcher of the Justícia sostenible en estat de mudança global (JUSOST) project, participated last 23 June 2026 at the international colloquium «Intel·ligència Artificial, Sistema de Justícia i Governança Institucional», hosted by the Universitat de València and organised by the University of São Paulo and the Legal School of Brasil, with the collaboration of several international academic institutions.
The meeting gathered experts from Europe and Latin America to analyse the main challenges that the incorporation of artificial intelligence in the legal and institutional field create, by addressing issues related to ethics, regulation, data protection, generative artificial intelligence, and innovation in the Justice Administration.
During her intervention, professor Silvia Barona presented the Spanish experience of digital tools and algorithmic systems in the justice system, laying bare the legal and procedural challenges that technological transformation creates, as well as the necessity of preserving fundamental rights, procedural guarantees and trust among citizens in a context of increasing digitalization.
The colloquium promoted a rich debate compared between the Spanish and Brazilian models of Artificial Intelligence incorporation to the legal system, allowing attendants to exchange experiences about institutional governance, regulation and responsible use of new technologies in the administration of justice.
The participation of professor Barona in this international forum strengthens the impact of the JUSOST project and its commitment to studying the challenges that artificial intelligence creates the construction of a sustainable, efficient and respectful justice with the principles of law and order.
