Carlos Esplugues participated in the opening of the Seminar on International Law and Conflict Prevention as president of AEDPIRI.
On 5 June, the Seminar on International Law and Conflict Prevention was held at the Diplomatic School in Madrid, organised jointly by AEPDIRI and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation.
At the opening of the seminar, together with Carlos Esplugues, in his capacity as President of AEPDIRI, participated: Enrique Viguera, Director of the Diplomatic School; Marcelino Cabanas, Ambassador on Special Mission for Preventive Diplomacy and Candidatures and Director of the Seminar; and Alfonso Dastis, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation.
The Seminar took place in three round tables. The first, on the review of the normative framework for conflict prevention, focusing on the United Nations; the second, on humanitarian crises, prevention and early response; and the third, on the preventive dimension of the responsibility to protect. The conclusions of the three roundtables were presented in a final report shared by the organisers with the United Nations, the OSCE and the European Union.
