The group of members of the Erasmus+ project “Cerebral Palsy Wellbeing”, created to promote exercise and proper nutrition with a strong dimension of inclusion, has celebrated her second meeting in Porto during the days 23 and 24 February 2017, gathering experts in cerebral palsy of Portugal, Italy, Croatia, Germany and Spain.
Among the experts, there are some occupational therapists, dietitians-nutritionists, physiotherapists, speech therapists, computer scientists, psychologists, Physical Activity graduates, centre directors, etc. Some of these also suffer from cerebral palsy.
The main topic of the meeting has been the exposition of the experiences lived by the entities that took part during the phase of co-creation of the programme between the months of September 2016 and January 2017. This programme has been held in their respective countries along with people suffering from cerebral palsy and their families to identify the actual needs of this group of people in particular in terms of nutrition and physical activity. Thus, listening to the users before working on it has made the labour easier to identify the actual need that they set like being able to choose what to eat, when to eat and with whom, or asking mixed sports to be promoted where people without cerebral palsy take part, more and better access to restaurants, more accesses to activities in the nature, participating in a blog with recipes that had textures suited but with more deserts and variety, etc. In all those cases a huge interest in the project has been expressed since it is becoming more difficult to eat and enjoying it for people with cerebral palsy, as they stated.
There is still a lot of work to be done but the illusion on this project being successful is big. The progresses can be consulted in the website of Cerebral Palsy Wellbeing, in six different languages until the programme ends on September 2018. By that time, it will be ready to be recreated in many corners of the world.
