In the third quarter of 2007, the Universitat de València co-finances, together with the Department of Immigration and Citizenship of the Valencian Government, a project for the creation of a Nutrition and Food Safety Observatory for the World in Development.

The project of the observatory is born from the need of incorporating the different projects that were being carried out in terms of nutrition and food safety in development aid projects. This need is understood as a joint of actuations at international and/or national level oriented to exchange experiences and resources between countries in the North and in the South to reach common goals based on solidarity, equality, efficacy, mutual interest, sustainability and co-responsibility criteria as well as on the improvement of health conditions and of the resources of the so called Forth World (people without resources in developed countries).
