The Universitat de València organises the “Conèixer la Universitat” programme with the aim of bringing the Universitat closer to high schools and showing future students its educational offer and services.
“Conèixer la Universitat” is an initiative of the Office of the Vice-Principal for Studies that is coordinated by the Information and Promotion Service (Sedi) and has the participation of the centres and services of the Universitat de València.
Medicine is one of the oldest professions in humanity, and provides answers to the reality of illness: it tries to cure or alleviate it, seeks the best instruments of prevention and seeks to promote people's health. The Degree in Medicine, therefore, provides a comprehensive training that allows students to gain an adequate knowledge of the sciences and techniques associated with the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of illness. This requires an in-depth knowledge of the biological characteristics of the human being and the importance of the relationship with the physical and social environment. Finally, it is essential to acquire adequate clinical experience that prepares students for the subsequent practice of the profession.
Medicine is a regulated, collegiate health profession with a defined field of action. Thus, graduates in Medicine can pursue careers in the following areas: medical care, healthcare management, the pharmaceutical industry, teaching and research.

Dentistry studies will provide future dentists with the knowledge and skills needed to prevent, diagnose and treat health problems related to teeth, jawbones, mouth and oral tissues. Moreover, the importance of continuing education is instilled, since it’s necessary to incorporate dentistry-related scientific and technological advancements to the daily clinical practice. At the same time, students are trained in communication with patients whose conditions must be taken into account so that they can take part in therapeutic decisions as well.
Based on the regulatory norms of the dentist profession, this degree trains students to be capable of successfully completing all the phases included in the healing process of oral diseases, that is, to prevent, diagnose and treat any anomaly concerning the oral cavity. Their responsibilities also include prescribing medication and health products within their field of action.

Biomedical Engineering is one of the fields of engineering which has gone through a greater growth in the last few years. Is a continuously-spreading area based on the functioning of living beings at nanoscopic level, the development of new biomaterials and the advances in tissue regeneration or in molecular images, among others, have provoked a revolution in biomedical and medicine sciences.
This revolution is producing an important increase on the demand of professionals capable of integrating in cross-disciplinary teams along with health professionals, biologist and doctors to tackle new challenges for an improvement in health technology.
On the other hand, the globalisation of the health care together with the aging of the population, makes it necessary to develop new medical technologies able to improve not only the quality of life of the citizenship, but also able to control the costs of the health care
ensuring the sustainability of the system.
This demand for medical technology is motivating the need for engineers to conceive, design, develop, produce, install and instruct in the usage of medical equipment and instruments.
Nowadays, all these factors make Biomedical Engineering a strategic area in the development of economy based in the knowledge, and an area with great potential for the development of new industries.The Master’s in Biomedical Engineering is intended for graduates of Biomedical Engineering or related undergraduate degrees.

In compliance with the Article 18.5 of Royal Decree 822/2021, which establishes the organisation of university education and the procedure for quality assurance, and Article 24 of the Universitat Politècnica de València’s regulations on pre-enrolment and admission to Master’s degrees, admission to this Master’s Degree requires completion of the following complementary training:
These training complements will be determined by the Master’s Degree Committee for each student based on their undergraduate degree. They are not considered a prerequisite for admission and enrolment in the Master’s programme, but may be taken simultaneously.
Students who have been assigned complementary courses must register for them in the same academic year in which they begin the Master’s programme.
The optional courses, which require the learning outcomes obtained in the two complementary courses, will be offered to these students in the third semester of the Master’s.
Under no circumstances can the Master’s Degree be obtained without having passed these complementary courses.
The admission applications for the Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering that meet the access conditions and the specific admission requirements mentioned in previous sections, will evaluated by the Academic Committee of the Master’s degree according to the assessment criteria of merits and selection mentioned below:
a) Academic transcript In the case of academic transcripts graded on scales other than those indicated in the Royal Decree 1125/2003, applicants must provide a certificate of equivalence of average marks obtained in university studies abroad, issued by the Spanish Ministry of Universities. Failure to provide this document will result in an average grade of 5 out of 10 for admission.

Language requirements: The Master’s Degree programme is taught in both Spanish and English. Candidates are required to demonstrate a certain level of proficiency in both languages. Specifically, they must prove a B2 level of Spanish and English, as certified by one of the official certificates recognised by the Conference of Rectors of Spanish Universities (CRUE) or the Association of Language Centres in Higher Education (ACLES).
Biomedical research is a basic element to increase social and economic welfare, sustainability and to improve life quality of citizenship, as it allows to obtain new knowledge and apply it for an improvement of prevention and diagnosis of diseases; a major safety in the appliance of drugs and therapies and an improvement in the use of health resources. A better position in the area of health research only could be determined by the possibility of offering biomedical research lines in pharmaceutical technologies and in technologies and high quality health, global, multidisciplinary and integrated sciences, with the collaboration of researchers and clinical, public health, occupational health, environmental health basic teams, close to the clinical realities, addressed to solve problems. In order to be admitted to the master’s degree, all applicants must be Graduates in Medicine or Graduates in degrees related to the field of health sciences.
In order to be admitted to the master’s degree, besides being holders of a degree suitable to the master’s teachings, students with a non-Spanish-speaking nationality, whose country doesn’t have an educational system that includes the Spanish language, will have to accredit a B2 Spanish level, as defined by the classification of the Common European Framework of Reference.
Should the demand surpass the supply of places, candidates will be selected on the basis of their merit, assessed in accordance with the following:

All the merits claimed in the pre-registration to the Master must be documented.
The continuous advance of research in the area of Health Sciences and more specifically in Physiology makes it necessary the training of specialist researchers in this field. For this reason, the Master's Degree in Physiology by the University of Valencia is dedicated to consolidation of the latests aspects of research on physiology, focusing in the subjects related with the experience and specialisation of the teaching board that teaches it. The basic objective of the Master's Degree is to provide students with a research training in the field of Physiology that allows them the practicse of their professional work in a general field and with the competences that provide them the studies of the Master's Degree.
This Master's Degree is research-guided, so with the received training, graduates will be able to access work places in Research Centres related with the area of healthcare, or they could continue with their research training, by writing a doctoral thesis which is within the Physiology Programme, in order to pursue an academic career in the University, where it should be noted that Physiology is present in a great number of the current degrees.The recommended applicant profile for obtaining the most of the studies to be carried out corresponds to students coming from "Licenciaturas" and undergraduate courses in Medicine, Pharmacy, Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Physics, Sciences of the Physical Activity and Sport Sciences, Nutrition and Dietetics, Nursing, Physiotherapy, Podiatry, or Veterinary Science, as well as related undergraduate studies and equivalent "Licenciaturas".
The selection criteria are as follows:
- Mark of the academic report of the "Licenciatura" or undergraduate studies: 50%
- Grants and collaboration in the Department of Physiology of the University of Valencia: 30%
- Publications and Communications in Congresses: 10%
- Other merits: 10%
In case of it being convenient, a personal interview on the claimed merits in the curriculum will be carried out.
Currently, the growing need for assisted reproduction treatments has caused the training need of specialists in this field. Especially laboratory aspects are of recent development and are constantly evolving and for this reason, in the degree studies there are not included or doesn`t allow to acquire enough knowledge for professional practice. All this reasons, along with the international significance of our country in the field of biomedicine, have brought biologists, pharmacists, veterinarians and other related graduated to express their interest to receive updated information of this field, what justifies, therefore, the existence of a postgraduate programme of these contents. It is addressed to people who have finished previous undergraduate studies (or llicenciatura) in the field of sciences with a biomedical profile, in the following order:
It also will be considerate the experience shown in laboratories of assisted reproduction, the attendance to courses, lectures and accredited scientific activities and the experience shown in basic research of biomedicine laboratories, in this order.
Classes for the 2025/2026 academic year will begin on September 15. Classes are given at the IVI Training Center.
The selection will be based on experience and previous scientific and academic education in the field of assisted human reproduction:
-The adaptation of the student’s education to the recommended profile (50%). For this reason, the Academic Committee of the Master’s values internships or recruitment placement in laboratories of assisted reproduction, the attendance to international and national conferences, accredited courses by different regions and within these, according to the similarity with the contents of the Master’s and its duration.-The academic record (40%).
-The curriculum vitae submitted (with documentary evidence of the merits claimed) (10-20%). If it is deemed necessary will be made a personal interview on the merits claimed in the curriculum
This Master's offers dentistry graduates and medical doctors advanced education in stomatology, for them to be able to delve into their research field. Aimed at developing and improving oral health in the area of prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation, and in the interrelation with professionals from basic and clinical sciences and public health, the programme provides theoretical/practical knowledge and specialised methodologies to undertake a PhD in Dentistry.The recommended profile is: graduates in dentistry or medicine and medical doctors specialised in stomatology.
- B2 Certification of Spanish language for non-Spanish speakers. Through a B2 Spanish Certification As a Foreign Language, where appropriate, oral and a written test.
The applicant’s education and experience as well as his/her academic records and CV will be taken into account. In situations of equal merit, the applicant’s relationship with the Stomatology Department will be considered. The evaluation of the candidates will be as follows:

The programme responds to a growing social demand for more rigorous knowledge on scientific activity and its social and cultural consequences. The important role of science, technology and medicine in contemporary societies makes it necessary to investigate the social and cultural meaning of such activities and their relationship with society as a whole. The masters intends to tackle these questions from the dual perspective of historical research on science and the studies on science communication and dissemination. The goal is to train professionals and researchers with critical skills and refined and updated methods of analysis, for them to work and research in areas related with history of science, technology and medicine, science communication and dissemination, scientific information management, and the preservation of science's cultural heritage.In order to be admitted to this Master’s degree, in addition to being in possession of a university degree that allows access to Master’s studies, students must accredit the following levels of knowledge of the Spanish language.
· Level of Spanish. In order to be admitted to this Master’s degree, students with nationality from non-Spanish-speaking countries or who come from foreign education systems where the language of teaching is not Spanish must accredit a B2 level of knowledge of Spanish, as defined in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) classification.
No specific prior training in any discipline is required. In any case, priority will be given to merits related to the contents of the Master’s degree (history of science and scientific communication).
1. Average grade of the academic record in the entrance degree: up to 10 points.
2. Curriculum Vitae submitted: up to 10 points. Within this criterion, the following merits will be assessed, assigning a score of up to 10 points for each of the following items:
a. Subjects and courses related to the subjects taught in the Master’s degree (up to 5 points, taking into account the grade obtained). Specific degrees or other additional official qualifications other than the access degree to the Master’s degree, related to its contents (up to 5 points, taking into account the grade obtained).
b. Research merits: Publications (up to 5 points), attendance and participation in scientific conferences and meetings (up to 3 points) and participation in research projects (up to 2 points), within the are of knowledge of history of science and scientific communication.
c. Collaboration grants, research grants and other similar grants obtained in open and competitive calls, provided that they have been obtained for subjects related to the Master’s degree.
d. Professional experience: Curricular or extracurricular internships (up to 7 points), as well as work experience in companies or institutions (up to 3 points) in areas and fields related to the contents of the Master’s degree.
3. Knowledge of languages (up to 10 points). Knowledge of the English language (B2, 2 points; B1, 5 points; C1, 8 points; and C2, 10 points) will be especially valued. Only official certificates issued by Official Schools of Languages or accredited institutions will be taken into consideration.
4. Defence of merits and motivation in the choice of the Master's degree: (Up to 10 points) The Commission may conduct a personal interview on the merits adduced, mainly to assess the level of knowledge of languages essential to follow the courses, English and Spanish, and the merits included in the curriculum presented (justification of priority with respect to other Master's degrees; justification of the subjects studied in the access degree in relation to the orientation of the Master's degree; justification of the professional practice with the Master's degree applied for; justification of the continuity of doctoral studies, ...).
Likewise, this interview will serve to assess the suitability of personal motivations and expectations with respect to the programme's educational offer.
