The UV School of Engineering (ETSI-UV) held on the 3 and 4 October, the workshop “InnovadorAs”, a training initiative pushed forward by the UV Chair for Digital Gender Gap and the Department of Innovation, Industry, Commerce and Tourism. This meeting had as its objective to promote leadership and technological competences in women, with the participation of 20 women of different ages, origin and training
The first session of the workshop, titled “Liderazgo de servicio, integrador y testimonial”, was led by the philosopher and expert in organisational accompaniment Alain Manzano. Throughout the morning of the 3 October, attendees explored key leadership concepts, their purpose, the essential abilities for an extraordinary leadership and the role of gender in these aspects. The diversity of profiles that attended enriched the debates, providing a wide range of perspectives and approaches.
Along the afternoon of the first day, multiple activities designed to provide practical and sensible tools took place. In particular, attendees dove right into a course of Design Thinking and Product Discovery, taught by Almudena Martín, in which they applied innovative methodologies in the design of a tool aimed to promote recycling at home.
Alain Manzano came back on the morning of the second day for a session in which he guided the participants in a series of exercises directed towards the development of leadership skills. This second day was brought to an end with a women empowerment session through a Wikipedia editaton led by Patricia Horrillo, in which the students learnt to edit the platform, introducing biographies from leader women to contribute to bring light to their impact and legacy.
This workshop represents progress in the reduction of the digital gender gap and in the encouragement of women leadership, highlighting the commitment of the UV and of the Department of Innovation, Industry, Commerce and Tourism with equity and social progress.
