“Reporting channels in the public and private sectors: whistleblowing and protection of informants. Criminal and procedural aspects”

The Faculty of Law of the UV held the third edition of the one-day conference event on “Reporting channels in the public and private sectors: whistleblowing and protection of informants. Criminal and procedural aspects” on Monday 22 April. It was directed by Dr José León Alapont, tenured professor of criminal law at the UV.

The event began with an opening ceremony at 10:30 in the Tomás S. Vives Antón Hall (4P05). The conferences started at 10:45 and tackled crucial topics in the sphere of criminal law and the prevention of corporate crime.

The programme featured outstanding interventions, such as the one by Dr Víctor Gómez Martín, full university professor of criminal law at the University of Barcelona, who talked about the legal nature of the models for the prevention of corporate crime. Moreover, Dr Norberto J. de la Mata Barranco, full university professor of Criminal Law at the University of the Basque Country, analysed the role of the compliance body in regulatory compliance programmes.

After a break at 12:15, the conference was resumed with the participation of Dr Alfonso Galán Muñoz, full university professor of criminal law at the University of Pablo de Olavide of Seville, who examined anonymous reporting channels. The conference concluded with the participation of Dr Teresa Clemente García, Assistant Director and Legal Affairs Director of the AVAF (Valencian Agency for the Prevention and Fight against Fraud and Corruption), and Dr Andrea Andreu Gutiérrez, FPI (research staff training programme) pre-doctoral fellow at the UV. Their intervention tackled fraud prevention in the public sector and the role of the Informant Protection Authority.

The Scientific Committee and the Academic Secretary lead by prominent UV academics was present at the event.
