The Chair of Economic Model Transformation of the Universitat de València participates in the conference ‘Holistic approach to wastewater resource recovery’ organised within the framework of the national HOLIWATER network.

The national HOLIWATER network aims to analyse the use of innovative technologies in order to implement circular economy projects in the water sector. A multidisciplinary approach is applied, combining technological, environmental, economic and social considerations from a holistic perspective. This integrative conception is achieved thanks to a network of highly experienced researchers in different disciplines, willing to promote close collaborations and the exchange of knowledge with the business sector and to seek formulas to enhance transfer and innovation.

The aim of the conference held in Madrid on 17 October was to inform the business sector about the capabilities of the members of the network, as well as to gather information about the real needs of companies in terms of the implementation of the circular economy.

Francesc Hernández, Director of the Chair in Economic Model Transformation: Circular Economy presented a conference under the title: ‘Viability and economic sustainability of innovative technological proposals’. In the current context of the depletion of natural resources, it is necessary to commit to the circular economy, always under the criteria of efficiency, viability and sustainability of the proposed projects.

In addition to the Universitat de València (UV), HOLIWATER is formed by CEIT-BRTA, CETAQUA, CIEMAT-PSA, the Spanish Research Council (CSIC), the Catalan Institute for Water Research (ICRA), the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), the University of Girona (UdG), the University of Granada (UGr), the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC), the University of Valladolid (Uva) and the University of Oviedo (UniOvi), University of Valladolid (Uva) and University of Oviedo (UniOvi) and is funded by the Ministry of Science and Innovation in the framework of the State Programme to Promote Scientific and Technical Research and its Transfer, within the State Plan for Scientific, Technical and Innovation Research 2021-2023.
