EXHIBITION POSTER

The Chair for Comic Studies, in collaboration with the Comic Society of the Office of the Vice-Principal for Culture, takes part in the exhibition ‘Dones a la vora d'un atac de vinyetes’ (Women on the Verge of a Panel Breakdown).

The exhibition ‘Women on the Verge of a Panel Breakdown’ organised by the Office of the Vice-Principal for Culture and Sport through the Comic Society and in collaboration with the Chair for Comic Studies Foundation SM-Universitat de València, is a journey through the new generation of female comic authors, which lead a new formal and thematic discourse in the ninth art in the Valencian Community. Female authors in comic, traditionally silenced and forgotten for decades, are now on their peak, mostly from a young generation which is approaching comic from original perspectives and getting national and international recognition trough awards such as the Premi Nacional de Còmic (National Award of Comic).

The exhibition encourages discovering the work of these authors through a series of the most recent works of ten women that go from the creation of fanzines to international publication. Anabel Colazo, Silvia Ferrer, María Herreros, Amelia Navarro, Ana Oncina, Luna Pan, Ana Penyas, Laura Pérez, Núria Tamarit and Xulia Vicente are a great example of the broad stylistic and thematic diversity proposed from a Valencian comic which is one of the biggest character of the national outlook at the moment.

The sample curated by Adela Cortijo, Noelia Ibarra and Álvaro Pons, whose graphic design is made by Patricia Bolinches, is in the Faculty of Geography and History until 23 April. However, it will change locations between all the campuses of the UV afterwards.
