On September 26, the UV Chair for Economy for the Common Good and S3C Triple Impacto organise this event of great relevance for the food chain.
Date and place of the event: Botanical Garden of the Universitat de València. Thursday, 26 September 2024 from 9:00am to 13:30pm.
Commemorating the International Day of Awareness on Food Loss and Waste Reduction, the UV Chair for Economy for the Common Good and S3C Triple Impacto, in collaboration with the Office of the Vice-Principal for Sustainability, Cooperation and Healthy Life and the UV Business and Humanism Chair, organise this event of great relevance for the food chain.
The objective of this conference is to raise awareness among the population and the business sector about the importance of reducing food waste, aligning ourselves with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 12, target 12.3.
During the event, research in this field will be addressed as well as key subjects such as the legal framework, the good practices and the strategic alliances needed to tackle this global challenge.
We propose to promote sustainable practices throughout the whole food chain, getting all the key participants involved. We will have the participation of experts, academics, food industry representatives and various entities of the value chain, who will share their knowledge, experience and effective strategies.
This meeting aims to make a significant difference in the fight against food waste and contributing to a more sustainable and fairer planet for all. The responsibility for preventing, mitigating and controlling food losses and waste lies throughout the food value chain, therefore, from the university, we feel co-responsible for speeding up measures that contribute to a more responsible and environmentally friendly distribution, manufacturing and consumption model.
