The UV Youth Chair organises the workshop Cuidem-nos: Tools for the well-being of youth workers’
Youth specialists and facilitators often have to face several problems that generate unease among professionals. Some of these issues are to some extent common to other professionals, such as social educators, teachers or counsellors. Others correspond to the very specific position of youth professionals in the institutional and labour field, to their low professional recognition, to their instability, to their diversity of professional and training profiles, etc.
In a profession that needs maximum motivation and positive energy, persistent discontent has very negative repercussions for professionals individually, young people and professionals as a whole.
In this workshop, the most common sources of professional discomfort will be analysed, separating the external from the internal ones, and coping strategies at both individual and collective levels will be proposed. We will use the iconic figure of Superman to consider the toxicity of certain individual and collective professional approaches that result in unhealthy self-demands.
The UV Youth Chair was born in 2022 as a result of the agreement between the UV and the Valencian Institute for Young People (IVAJ). It aims to promote knowledge transfer, research, training and innovation on issues related to youth and youth policies.
